(KRON) -- Detectives in Vallejo are investigating the city’s first homicide of 2026 after a body was found on Monday. The body of a man was found at 3:15 p.m. near railroad tracks adjacent to the 1100 block of Georgia Street, behind the Vallejo Police Department station, authorities said. Vallejo Police Department detectives, along with the Solano County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office, were unable to immediately determine the cause of death at the scene due to “the condition of the body and exposure to the elements.” On Wednesday, after further examination, the coroner determined that the man was shot at least once, according to police. The identity of the man is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin. The circumstances surrounding the man’s death remain under investigation.
