INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is requesting the public’s help in raising awareness about Indiana’s juvenile curfew law and the importance of keeping young people safe.
In a statement sent by IMPD Wednesday, they explained that as it gets warmer outsid

“Curfew isn’t about punishment; it’s about safety, accountability, and prevention,” IMPD said.
Current Indiana law states that child between the ages of 15 and 17 may not be in a public place:
Between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Saturday or Sunday.
After 11 p.m. on Sunday – Thursday.
Before 5 a.m. on Monday – Friday.
Under Indiana law, children younger than 15 should not be in a public place before 5 a.m. Monday through Friday, or after 11 p.m. and before 5 a.m. on any day.
IMPD says there’s only two exceptions to the curfew; a juvenile who is accompanied by a parent, guardian or custodian, or adult and if a juvenile is participating in, going to, or returning from work, a school sanctioned activity, a religious event, or engaging in the right of assembly.
