HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Nearly forty vehicles were broken into in Henrico County throughout Wednesday morning, with nearly all vehicles' windows smashed and many items stolen, police said.
Between 4 and 8 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, officers with the Henrico County Police Division responded
to several calls for reported vehicle break-ins and vandalisms.
Police said that between Henrico's East End and West End, nearly 40 vehicles were hit. According to officials, nearly all vehicles had smashed windows and victims reported that their personal items were stolen from the vehicles.
Officials said the incidents occurred at the following locations:
400 block of International Centre Drive
9900 block of Mayland Drive
11000 block of W. Broad Street
12000 block of W. Broad Street
200 block of Towne Center West Boulevard
The string of larcenies and vandalisms may be tied to the same person or persons, police said, though the investigation is ongoing.
“There is a strong indication this crime spree is tied to the same individual(s),” said Henrico Police spokesperson Karina Bolster. “Currently, officers are working with the victims and the businesses of the properties to obtain as much evidence as possible to identify a person or persons of interest.”
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect or suspects traveled along the Interstate 64 corridor and stopped at multiple hotels nearby to carry out these incidents.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
