On Wednesday morning, the city reported that the intersection of West High Street and South Mill Street in downtown Lexington is closed due to an emergency gas line break.The city added that drivers should expect traffic delays as the closure is expected to last until late afternoon. One lane may open earlier but traffic will move slowly in the area.Further, South Mill Street will remain closed due to other utility work. Drivers traveling on High Street can use South Limestone to West Main Street to South Broadway to reach Rupp Arena.City officials asked that motorists avoid traveling downtown if possible and that those traveling to Rupp Arena for the KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 basketball tournament should plan extra travel time and parking. ...read more read less
