Don’t be surprised if your Baltimore trash bins sit unemptied a little longer than usual this week. The city is expecting delays for trash collection and services at some residential drop-off center locations this Wednesday through Saturday, Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) announced. A waste-to-energy facility, operated by Win Waste Innovations, receives Baltimore City’s trash. However, the facility will be closed this week due to scheduled maintenance and will not be accepting materials. In the meantime, the city will be temporarily redirecting trash disposal operations to the Quarantine Road Landfill. “DPW crews will continue working to provide service and minimize disruptions during this period. Residents are asked to please be patient as crews manage the increased disposal traffic,” according to a news release from DPW. During this time, with the Quarantine Road Landfill having to facilitate a greater volume of trash than normal, some routes may experience slower trash collection as DPW crews have to wait longer to dispose of their loads at the landfill. Residents disposing of waste themselves can also expect longer wait times at the Northwest Transfer Station, Quarantine Road Landfill, and Residential Recycling Centers.
