Riverfront Canal Cruises announces dates for upcoming 26th season

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Riverfront Canal Cruise has announced it will begin its 26th season on April 2.
On Tuesday, March 10, Riverfront Canal Cruises announced that starting on Thursday, April 2, it will start its 26th season of historic tours and private charters along the James River.

0-minute narrated historical tours will run from April to November with various hours. The boat travels through the James River and along the Kanawha Canal by Downtown Richmond's Canal Walk.
The narrated tours dive into Richmond's history from Powhatan's Chiefdom to the first successful electric streetcar, with participants traveling in authentically styled boats, according to the release.
Visitors aboard will see the railroad triple crossing, 19th-century architecture, the Virginia Capital Trail, the Low Line Gardens and wildlife in the James River.
Tours begin at the canal's Turning Basin, located at 139 Virginia St., and depart on the hour. The boats can hold up to 25 passengers and are accessible for those with physical disabilities, per the release.
Tickets can be purchased at the ticket kiosk or online up to 18 hours in advance, but they are on a first-come, first-served basis. If tickets are purchased online, they will include a service provider booking fee.
The Riverfront Canal Cruise offers private charters for one to two-hour boat tours for multiple types of special occasions. Private charters can be booked for any day and time during their season, but they must be reserved at least two weeks in advance.
There are also special tours offered from May 28 to Aug. 20 every other week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, featuring guest speakers who provide different narrations. Prices are the same as regular historic tours, but visit their website for more details about specific tours.
