Mon evening forecast – Mar 9, 2026 INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We are tracking record high potential Tuesday that will be followed up with more active weather late Tuesday into Wednesday. This will also include the threat for strong to severe storms. Monday night: Mostly cloudy with isolated showers possible. Lows in the low 60s. Tuesday: Much of tomorrow may end up dry due to a cap that prevents shower/storm development. Nonetheless, warm and more humid air will be in place into Tuesday night. We’ll need to watch any activity that scoots in from Illinois as we could be talking potential for discrete cells. Best chance for that as of now is north of Indy heading into Tuesday evening-night. Regardless, the risk for severe weather extends through all of central Indiana into early Wednesday morning. There is a level 2/5 risk across central Indiana with a level 3/5 risk into northern Indiana. All hazards are possible. Unfortunately, the risk for a strong tornado (EF2+) and very large hail (2″+) is also on the table mainly north of Indy due to the discrete cell potential. You need to make sure that you can have different ways of being alerted heading into the overnight hours Tuesday. Update your safety plan as well if needed. Highs in the mid 70s. Indy’s record high for tomorrow is 74 from 2009. Wednesday: Additional showers and storms will carry through a good chunk of our Wednesday. Additional rainfall amounts through this time could be up to 1-2″+, and that is not the news you want to hear if you got several inches of rain from last week. Isolated strong to severe storms may also be on deck into the daytime hours Wednesday. Wind is the main threat. Highs in the mid to upper 60s. 7-Day Forecast: Cooler into Thursday with the day starting off featuring wind chill values in the 20s. We look to try and warm up quickly into this weekend.
