SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A dog was rescued from the scene of a house fire in San Francisco Friday morning. The San Francisco Fire Department responded at 9:47 a.m. to the scene of a one-alarm structure fire at the intersection of Capitol Avenue and Thrift Street. The fire, SFFD said, was first repor ted around 9:11 a.m. and Engine Company 33 responded. Firefighters observed heavy smoke at the scene rising from a two-story, detached single-family home. Firefighters also rescued a dog from the scene. Both the dog and the person are expected to be OK. Firefighters were able to isolate the spread of the flames to two structures and bring it under control by 10 a.m. Over 40 firefighters responded to the blaze. Firefighters are asking people to continue to avoid the areas as there is still a significant fire presence at the scene.
