Expect delays outbound Leestown Road at New Circle in Lexington LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 6, 2026) – Construction for the New Circle Road (KY 4) widening project in Lexington will require one lane of outbound Leestown Road (US 421) north to close from just past Lisle Road to Greendale Road (milepoint s 1.25-2.30). The closure will allow workers to dig and widen the roadway in preparation for construction of the new double crossover diamond interchange.   Beginning at 7 a.m., Monday, March 9, contractors will close the right lane of Leestown Road northbound. One lane of traffic will be open throughout construction, with the left turn lanes also remaining open. Monday, March 9, weather permitting: At 7 a.m., Leestown Road (US 421) will close the far right northbound (outbound) lane. The closure will occur at the point where the road widens just past Lisle Road and continue to Greendale Road (mile markers 1.25-2.30). One lane of traffic will be open throughout construction, with the left turn lanes open. Delays are possible; please plan accordingly. The work is part of the New Circle Road widening project. When complete in 2027, the project will increase the capacity and operation of New Circle Road and the Leestown Interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly-growing area of Lexington.
