Denver police chase ends on eastbound I70 in Aurora, disrupting traffic

Traffic on eastbound Interstate 70 in Aurora was brought to a standstill Thursday night after Denver police chased down a suspect in a stolen vehicle who ran over an officer’s foot, officials said.
The highway was closed at Interstate 225 at 4:51 p.m., according to the Colorado Department of Trans
portation. One lane reopened as of 6:15 p.m. and the highway was fully reopen by 7:30 p.m.
The pursuit started when Denver officers stopped a stolen vehicle near 45th Avenue and Zuni Street and the driver fled the scene and ran over an officer’s foot, the Denver Police Department said in an email.
Officers followed the driver and forced the vehicle to stop on eastbound I-70 west of Chambers Road.
The driver was arrested and taken to the hospital to be evaluated for injuries, and the officer whose foot was run over was also taken to the hospital to be evaluated, Denver police said.
