Summit County Republicans to hold Caucus Night March 17
Mar 05, 2026
Summit County Republicans will gather for their biennial Caucus Night on March 17, with registration beginning at 6 p.m. and the event starting at 7 p.m.
There will be three locations across the county for the Caucus Night. All registered Republicans are invited to attend and participate.
Caucus Night is the foundation of the Republican nominating process in Utah, the party said. At the precinct level, neighbors meet face-to-face to elect delegates and local party leadership. Those delegates will go on to represent their communities at the county and state conventions, where Republican candidates for public office are selected.
“This is where the direction of the party is shaped,” the party said in a press release. “It is not a rally or a primary election. It is a working meeting where registered Republicans in each precinct choose the individuals who will represent them in the convention process.”
Participants may also choose to run for precinct chair, county delegate or state delegate. Any registered Republican who resides in their precinct may seek election.
Caucus Chair Tory Welch emphasized the importance of participation:
“Caucus Night is where grassroots Republicans come together to shape the future of the party. Whether you’ve participated before or this is your first time, your voice matters. I encourage Republicans across Summit County to attend, get involved, and help choose the delegates who will represent their precincts.”
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged but not required. Details on locations, times, and how to pre-register or declare candidacy are available online at summitgop.org.
