(KRON) -- A serial REI thief was detained on Tuesday after stealing from the same Berkeley location twice in two months. According to the Berkeley Police Department, the suspect was detained near the store around 7:33 p.m. after Flock cameras detected their vehicle. Officers then located the suspec t vehicle in REI's parking lot, where they found a theft device that is used to bypass security sensors. BPD said $2,000 worth of stolen merchandise was found inside the suspect's vehicle. Once the suspect's identity was confirmed, BPD learned that the suspect was a repeat offender at the same store. According to Berkeley police, on Jan. 22, the suspect stole several hundred dollars' worth of merchandise. About a month later, on Feb. 19, the suspect came back and stole another several hundred dollars' worth of REI merchandise. BPD posted a picture of the recovered items, which include products from brands like Oakley, The North Face and Arc'teryx.
