Littoral combat ship USS Cincinnati returns to San Diego from long deployment

The littoral combat ship USS Cincinnati returned to its homeport of San Diego Wednesday following an eight-month deployment that included a rare visit to Cambodia, the Navy said.
The 418-foot, shallow-draft trimaran was greeted pierside by family and friends at Naval Base San Diego, the home of 16 L
CS vessels.
In late January, the Cincinnati pulled into Ream Naval Base, Cambodia, for a temporary port visit meant to strengthen ties between the U.S. and Cambodia. Such visits used to be rare because of political tensions between the two countries, a problem that has eased in the past few years.
Three other San Diego-based LCS — the USS Canberra, USS Tulsa and USS Santa Barbara — are currently operating out of Bahrain. In December, the Santa Barbara conducted the first test of a new unmanned, one-way “suicide” drone known as LUCAS. The Navy says it used LUCAS drones over the weekend in the joint U.S.-Israel attack on Iran.
