2025 Community Health assessment highlights concerns in Marion Co. INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Marion County Public Health Department on Wednesday highlighted the top five most urgent health concerns facing residents across the county. It identified mental health and well-being, access to hea lth care, housing, trauma and injury prevention, and infant mortality.. The findings come after more than 4,500 residents completed surveys.. Health officials say the report goes beyond medical data, examining how living conditions and daily life impact overall wellness. Dr. Virginia Caine, director and chief medical officer of the health department, said, “A lot of times you need to do focus groups where you need to get large bodies of folks looking at different issues. In terms of, you know, our Latino community, our Asian community, or Burmese. Different groups have different perspectives, different issues.” “But we’re here to tell you it’s so important for us to know from all of you what we think are the imporant issues that we need to look at but also help us say and tell us what are those resources that you think we need to have in order to provide services to you.” The department says the results will shape a new community health improvement plan.
