Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Marlon Hill moved to Miami in 1985 as a teenager. While adjusting to a new country can be challenging for anyone, he immediately felt a connection to his Caribbean roots in the melting pot of Miami-Dade. Transitioning to high school in the area, he navigated a multicultura l environment that shaped his understanding of community and laid the groundwork for a life at the intersection of law, business and civic engagement. Mr. Hill’s early interest in international business, finance and global affairs led him to Florida State University, where he studied abroad in Costa Rica and minored in Spanish. His growing connection to Miami’s business and cultural community ultimately steered him toward law, culminating in a J.D. with honors from Florida State University College of Law. After gaining experience at Adorno Zeder, he co-founded delancyhill P.A. with a high school friend, focusing on entrepreneurs, family-owned companies and small- to middle-market businesses, with particular attention to the Caribbean-American community. Over the years, Mr. Hill’s practice expanded, adapting to shifts in the economy, embracing digital innovation and merging with Hamilton Miller to broaden the firm’s reach while staying rooted in cultural and community connections. In 2021, he joined Weiss Serota Helfman Cole + Bierman, bringing decades of expertise in corporate law, intellectual property, business immigration and government affairs. A lifelong soccer fan, he now leads Weiss Serota’s “Road to the World Cup” focus group, advising public and private stakeholders on the legal, business and logistical challenges as Miami hosts seven matches this summer as one of 16 North American host cities. He helps clients navigate everything from immigration and labor matters to land use and sponsorship agreements, ensuring the tournament runs smoothly while creating lasting economic opportunities and strengthening Miami’s global profile. Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Hill is a dedicated civic leader, serving his community across philanthropic, educational, youth sports and cultural initiatives – from the Orange Bowl Committee to the Greater Miami Convention Visitors Bureau. His leadership reflects a career-long commitment to connecting Miami to the Caribbean and Latin America, modeling how expertise and community involvement can create lasting impact. Mr. Hill spoke with Miami Today reporter Genevieve Bowen. Read the full interview in this week’s print or digital edition of Miami Today. Full access is available exclusively to our subscribers.
