COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO-TV) - Governor Henry McMaster's longtime Chief of Staff Trey Walker is leaving the Governor's office. Walker sent an email Tuesday morning announcing his departure. In the email, Walker said, "It has been an honor and privilege to serve as Governor McMaster’s C hief of Staff for the last nine years. As the Governor’s historic tenure comes to an end, we all have to prepare for the next chapter in our lives.  Exciting professional and entrepreneurial opportunities require that this be my last week working in the Governor’s Office."   At a press conference late Tuesday afternoon, Gov. McMaster praised Walker.   "Trey Walker has done a great job," said McMaster. "He'll be one of the most experienced people in state government, and a lot of other things as well. But we've got a great staff, and we got a lot of work to do and we aren't slowing down."   Mark Plowden, who has worked closely with Governor McMaster for several years, will serve as chief of staff after Walker's departure.   Walker does plan to continue assisting the governor in the future.
