Carolina Wedge continues, toasty temps ahead
Mar 03, 2026
March’s first Tuesday is picking up where Monday left off: chilly, cloudy, and dreary. While temperatures should warm a bit this afternoon compared to yesterday, highs will likely remain below average in the 40s and 50s across the board. The classic Carolina Wedge setup sticks around for today,
but much warmer air swells into the WCCB Charlotte viewing area by Wednesday. Highs will soar into the mid-70s for most across the Piedmont Foothills for our Hump Day, and temperatures only take off from there.
The warmest stretch the Charlotte Metro has seen since September 2025 likely begins on Thursday. Afternoon temperatures will top out near 80° for our penultimate day of the workweek, setting us up for what could be multiple days in a row in the 80s. The big question mark hovers over whether or not we see any rain this weekend, and how much, if so. A weak disturbance could bring some scattered storms and clouds on Sunday, which may bring temperatures down a few pegs. Regardless, highs should remain 10-20° above average between this Wednesday and next Wednesday.
