A man was killed and a 15-year-old boy was among three others wounded in a string of drive by shootings that occurred within three hours citywide Sunday night. The string of shootings started when Carlos Navarro Perez, 45, was standing outside in 3900 block of West 62nd Street in West Lawn around 8:
30 p.m. and was shot in the head, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said. Perez, of the same block, was pronounced dead at 9:04 p.m. Around 10:05 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was in the 6600 block of South Rhodes Avenue in Woodlawn when he was struck in the abdomen and arm by gunfire, police said. He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital where he was in fair condition, police said. About an hour later, two men were in a moving vehicle in the 5600 block of West Wrightwood Avenue in Belmont Cragin when they were struck by gunfire, officials said.An 18-year-old man was shot in the thigh and the second man, 21, was shot in the elbow, police said. They were taken to St. Mary's Hospital in good condition. In each of the incidents, preliminary information suggests the shooter was inside a black vehicle at the time of the attacks. Police say the vehicles haven’t been confirmed to be linked to the shootings. Area detectives were investigating.
