Trump bit Iran’s head off, but Iran bites back Bronx: Here we are, we’re finally at war with Iran. It’s a war that every U.S. president has distinctly tried to avoid for almost half a century. Well, now we might just find out why. For starters, we all better hope Iran doesn’t already have a nuclear weapons stockpile. If they do, they will not use them at first. That would be suicide and they know it. If they were to do that, President Trump would for sure retaliate accordingly and readily wipe most of them off the face of the Earth. But as the conflict escalates and Iran’s leaders inevitably see themselves failing and with nothing left to lose, Israel would most likely be targeted by Iran’s missiles because they don’t have missiles with range long enough to reach our continent. Such a scenario would be a real Armageddon! And there is an actual Armageddon, an ancient Israelite settlement called Megiddo in northern Israel. The most sickening aspect of this whole ruinous debacle is that Trump might be using this dangerously manufactured conflict as a means to divert attention away from his own involvement in a notorious pedophile’s deplorable, criminal ring of deprivation. If that’s truly the case, then he’ll stop at nothing. May God help us all! Carlos B. Martinez Lied then or lying now? Woodstock, N.Y.: I thought our Dear Leader had already obliterated Iran’s nuclear weaponry. So why are we invading their country? Could it be that he doesn’t know what obliterated means? Or is it that he’ll do anything to distract from his crappy ratings regarding the economy, the Drumpf-Epstein files and his self-enrichment while the American people lose all access to affordable health care? I’m guessing the latter. Suzanne Hayes-Kelly Big distraction Brooklyn: Where’s the mystery of Trump’s sudden attack on Iran? Coincidentally, his name was just exposed in a credible accusation by a woman who said Trump abused her when she was 13 or 14 years old. Instead, we’re covering a “war.” Herman Kolender Everybody loses Dartmouth, Mass.: Not being satisfied punishing his American enemies with frivolous lawsuits and criminal indictments, Trump is on a rampage to destroy countries that don’t bend to his threats by deposing their leaders or making financial deals favoring the U.S., his family or his enabling billionaires. This attack on Iran, executed only with Israel, will further alienate allies and hostile nations alike. What might be gained is far outweighed by the international disruption this will cause. And the loss of American lives so cavalierly sacrificed by a man who has never risked his life or resources is appalling. The actions and behavior of Trump are unquestionably those of a man suffering from psychological dysfunction and probably early stages of dementia. That small cabal of handlers pulling the strings and feeding his ego, lust for revenge and greed are the real culprits who must be held accountable. Betty Ussach Honorary honor only Manhattan: You can subtract one from the 14 or 15 wars Mr. Chump has stopped. Isn’t it a shame he can’t give himself the Medal of Honor he so deserves? Maybe one of our past honorees would give him theirs. Raymond McEaddy Dragged into war Rockaway Park: Hey America, it’s your fault that our country seems to be in chaos at home and abroad. Those of you who chose to vote for a narcissistic, insecure racist rather than an African-American woman with an impeccable record and no baggage are to blame. Do you honestly think this country would be constantly involved in some type of ongoing crisis had you voted another way? If you voted for the current president and you’re not wealthy, how has he made your life better? Who stands to benefit from a war with Iran? Is it you or the Trump family? Among the many reasons Trump has for starting this war is to distract us from his poor favorability numbers among Americans. Shame on you for choosing an incompetent person to lead our country. Anthony Johnson Tone-setter Brooklyn: To Voicer Arlene Reilly: Regarding the media promoting bad language, you’re absolutely right. They shouldn’t be doing that. But I didn’t see you also mention the president. He’s always using bad language — not only throwing out bad words, but insulting and belittling others. You need to be fair and honest and not be one-sided. Carol Singleton Tactical barrier Merion Station, Pa.: After my 87-year-old mother moved closer to me, I took her to acquire a state ID and voter registration card. Four years later, Ma was still going strong and using her walker to get to our local polling station. However, she wasn’t up to spending hours at the DMV to renew her ID. Since her birth certificate or state-issued ID weren’t a voting requirement, she voted until she passed away. I wonder what people who can’t find their birth certificates, or don’t drive or have family/friends to take them to re-register for new IDs, will do if further voter restrictions are imposed. Black, Hispanic and poor voters, who predominantly vote Democratic and live in purple or blue states, will be most severely impacted by voting restrictions — the only reason Trump and his Republican henchmen are so adamant about tightening voter laws. Paul L. Newman Dismantled Farmingville, L.I.: USAID previously provided resources for impoverished countries. However, due to the sudden shutdown of the program, dire consequences will ensue. After supporting the health and livelihood of people in Kenya and Rwanda through medication, the shutdown of the USAID program has left these people susceptible to various illnesses that spread since there are no medications available. Due to these circumstances, the Lancet medical journal projected that there would be 9.4 million deaths. Although the Trump administration has begun to form global health programs to provide medications, it’s too little too late. By the time they’re created, most of the effects due to the elimination of USAID will already be felt. Julianna Wottawa Controlled fires Bronx: Re “The Argyle Sweater” comic strip of Feb. 28: Firefighters do indeed fight fire with fire. It’s a technique called back-burning, when fires are deliberately set at the front of out-of-control brushfires and wildfires to attempt to use up the fuel these fires would feed on and thus be able to contain them. Judith H. Block Local legend New Windsor, N.Y.: I was saddened to hear about the passing of Neil Sedaka. This Brooklyn good guy and Abraham Lincoln High School alum created hit songs for himself and other artists that will last for generations to come. Not to mention his daughter Dara, who’s a terrific singer herself. Thank you for the music, Neil, and rest in peace as you climb that “Stairway to Heaven” on your way to “Rock and Roll Heaven,” where you know they’ve got a hell of a band.
