A man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver near Mission Bay early Sunday, police said. The victim was also hit by a second vehicle, although that driver stayed at the scene to cooperate with officers, police said. The initial crash occurred at about 2:20 a.m. in the area of West Mission Bay and Sea World drives, near SeaWorld San Diego. The pedestrian was in the southbound lanes of West Mission Bay Drive when he was struck by a silver vehicle driving in the southbound lanes, police said. That driver drove off after striking the man, police said. Shortly after, a 28-year-old man heading south ran over the downed pedestrian, police said. The pedestrian died before he could be taken to a hospital. That driver remained at the scene and investigators said no drug or alcohol intoxication was involved.
