The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Dallas hosted its largest external event of the year, an Interfaith Iftar Dinner. “There’s usually great food, great conversations, but also a time where we can actually connect and engage with guests to let them know about the true essence of what Ramadan is , which is introspection, self-reflection, and really being spiritual and uplifting our spirits for preparing for the rest of the year,” said Khalid Kark, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Dallas. Local mayors, police chiefs, international diplomats, and interfaith leaders joined the local Muslim community to break the Ramadan fast and discuss the faith, civic responsibility, and community unity. “I realize how much we’re alike. There’s really not that much difference. We all believe in a God,” said Ken Hutchenrider, Richardson Mayor Pro Tem. “He has several different names, but I’m always so impressed with how we’re able to see how there’s so much more alike than we are different.”Those who attended spoke on what Ramadan is all about all while exploring a Mosque and enjoying good food. “They really do have the same things as Christian religions.
