RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Over $1 million worth of narcotics was seized in one week by the Virginia State Police as part of ongoing crime suppression efforts. Through a partnership with state agencies, between Feb. 18 and Feb. 24, the Virginia State Police seized 116.8 pounds of narcotics across the commonwealth. Federal task forces, of which the Virginia State Police is a member, seized 34.6 pounds of illegal drugs. This included 2.9 ounces of cocaine, 1.2 ounces of crack cocaine, 134.5 pounds of marijuana, 10 pounds of methamphetamine, 1 ounce of fentanyl and 6.6 pounds of THC consumables. These illegal narcotics would have generated a little over than $1 million if they were sold, per the Virginia State Police. Troopers also recovered $250,000 in U.S. currency.
