The Guardians used a five-run rally in the seventh inning to take the lead, but the Cubs answered with four runs in the eighth and held on for an 8-6 win on Feb. 27 in the Cactus League. Outfielder Jonah Advincula had the big blow for Cleveland in the seventh with a three-run double. Advincula had t wo of Cleveland’s eight hits and also scored a run. Maick Collado and Bo Naylor also had RBI singles in the seventh. Dayan Frias hit into an RBI groundout in the ninth inning to account for the Guardians’ other run. Cleveland had the tying run at the plate in the ninth inning, but Cooper Ingle was called out on strikes. Rhys Hoskins made his Guardians debut. He was 0-for-2 with a walk, which he drew after successfully challenging a called third strike. Logan Allen made his second start of the spring and faced 12 batters in three innings.
