Miners baseball feeling prepared for Tuesday’s season opener
Feb 27, 2026
The Miners baseball team has won regional championships in back-to-back seasons.
The high clips of winning didn’t stop Park City’s seasons from grinding to a halt in the bracket play rounds of the state tournament however.
While head coach David Feasler refuses to define his team’s
seasons by their successes or failures on the scoreboard, the Miners are back and chasing a regional title three-peat.
Park City will open their season on the road against Union at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Due to colder temperatures and spring snowfall, the Miners typically start their season with long roadtrips. Park City had hopes for a new turf field to be ready to start the season to alleviate some of those concerns.
The Miners have been practicing since January, largely inside The Basin Recreation Fieldhouse, to try and get back to the bracket play stage and find some more success their third time around.
“The preseason has gone really well so far,” Feasler said. “We are really excited to get some games going.”
Park City focused on the basics during the preseason: hitting, fielding and pitching.
The Miners have a tough non-region schedule, including two tournaments March 5-7 and 12-14 on the road. They will have to relax and trust in that preseason work to play good baseball.
“The non-region schedule should be a really good test against top teams,” Feasler said. “That’s always our goal with scheduling.”

Park City has a blend of star players, set to compete at the next level, and younger contributors. The Miners graduated 10 players last season and added about 11 newcomers this season.
Even with the inexperience, Feasler knows the team can hit the ground running and competing on every pitch.
“Every one of our 28 guys will play an important role,” Feasler said. “It’s a long season. Dropping some games will happen — but then, move on to the next one.”
Army football and baseball signee Alex Brannigan will play a key role as one of the Miners best pitchers. Feasler will be looking for a few additional arms and bats to emerge from the inexperienced roster.
Bear River will be Park City’s final non-region foe on March 20, before opening up regional play against Cottonwood March 27, in what should be the home opener.
The Miners regular season will run through late-April, with the 4A playoffs beginning in May.
“We graduated the majority of our innings from last year,” Feasler said. “So, plenty of opportunities for newcomers to be impactful.”
