This Brunch Wedding Featured a Football Theme
Feb 27, 2026
Though they went to the same North Carolina university and each moved to Washington, DC in 2013, Jasmine, a marketing manager, and Matt, an advertising account director, didn’t meet until 2021 when they connected on Hinge, while they were both living in LA. Their first real conversation, they say,
was about their hopes for their favorite players at the NFL Draft. A few years later—after a Christmas Eve proposal in front of family and friends—their January wedding day featured nods to their football connection.

The vision for the day, they say, was a joyful celebration built around what they love: brunch, family, day parties, and football. The couple’s custom watercolor monogram included subtle football elements hidden within it and was featured throughout the day, including on mini football helmet stands that doubled as place cards and personalized wedding favors. Among the gifts the couple exchanged the day of the wedding was a custom bobblehead of Jasmine that Matt gave to his bride.
The day’s design included monochromatic shades of brown chosen to create warmth, and inviting guests to also wear brown, the couple says, was meant to make them feel even more a part of the day. At the ceremony, officiated by the father of the groom, the pair exchanged personalized vows followed by traditional ones. The reception included a full brunch menu, including mini crab cakes, chocolate chip pancakes, and chicken biscuit appetizers, plus a three-course meal with a goat cheese tart, French toast, and egg-white frittatas. A two-tier cake included vanilla with caramel and red velvet with cookies-and-cream filling, and for mini dessert shooters, cinnabutter cake with cookie-butter filling gave guests a grab-and-go dessert option. Among other details, there were espresso martinis and Old Fashioneds at the bar; a saxophonist who played as guests entered; and a Vanity Fair-inspired lounge set for the photo booth experience.
