(KRON) -- An investigation into alleged animal abuse at a Santa Rosa property uncovered more than 800 roosters and evidence of a cockfighting operation on Wednesday, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO). The search warrant executed at the property in the 3000 block of Stony Poin t Road found 833 roosters, along with slashers, timers, identification bands, betting slips, veterinary medication and small denomination currency, which the sheriff’s office said is consistent with bird fighting. Saul Villalobos-Delacruz, 30, of Santa Rosa, was arrested and booked into jail on animal cruelty charges. Authorities said he was later released on pre-trial supervision.
