A longstanding Philadelphia seafood restaurant just received a prestigious honor.
Oyster House, nestled in Rittenhouse Square, just received a 2026 James Beard America’s Classics Award.
The America’s Classics Award recognizes locally owned restaurants that serve high-quality food, have tim

The James Beard Foundation highlighted the Oyster House’s creative, modern seafood options featuring sustainable, dock-to-table ingredients.
“Oyster House is not just a venerable ambassador of Philadelphia food history—it remains one of the city’s most rewarding places to eat,” the foundation wrote.
Since opening its doors on Samson Street in 1976, Oyster House has expanded its reach to travelers at Philadelphia International Airport, where it welcomes guests between Terminals B and C.
Oyster House will join fellow honorees at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Ceremony in Chicago on June 15.
