Guillermo Santa Cruz: Preps HomesteadMiami Speedway for championship race
Feb 25, 2026
With decades of experience in the media world and bringing world-class sporting competition to audiences worldwide, Guillermo Santa Cruz, president of Homestead-Miami Speedway, is back in his hometown, leading the South Florida motorsports market and taking the speedway into its next phase as one of
the most preeminent international racing facilities.
Since taking on the role as president in July 2024, Mr. Santa Cruz has focused on the Homestead and local South Florida community that has played host to the facility and the sport for nearly 30 years. He has prioritized building relationships with the local community, government, and potential stakeholders to expand the track’s influence.
His has a diverse resume, from his producing job for Univision and Telemundo to most recently as IMG’s vice president, Latin America, Mexico, and US Hispanic, where he managed sales and client relations focusing on sports and entertainment programming for the Latin American region.
At NBC-Telemundo and Univision, Mr. Santa Cruz was part of the 2004 team covering the Olympics and World Cups ‘94 and ‘98, along with numerous soccer games.
Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Miami to Cuban parents, Mr. Santa Cruz said coming back to South Florida to lead the Homestead-Miami Speedway was what he was meant to do, and all the experiences he gained throughout his career have prepared him for this very role.
“My whole professional life has been here (in Miami), but never at the local level; I’ve always worked more in national and international media. This role has given me the opportunity to work in a local market and in the community where I grew up,” he said. “I have a good feel for the market and the community because I’m part of that market and community. I have the advantage of growing up here and having a feel for different cultures. There is real strength to South Florida in how diverse it is. I don’t have to learn that because it comes built-in, and that’s a big advantage for me.”
Mr. Santa Cruz spoke with Miami Today reporter Abraham Galvan.
