Breeze Airways to offer two new nonstop flights in Tallahassee
Feb 24, 2026
Tallahassee travelers who have been driving to Jacksonville or Panama City to catch cheaper flights may soon have a new option closer to home. Breeze Airways is coming to Tallahassee International Airport, offering nonstop servi
ce to two major travel hubs beginning July 2.WATCH FULL REPORT BELOW: Breeze Airways is coming to Tallahassee International AirportLukas Johnson, the Chief Commercial Officer at Breeze Airways, said the airline sees significant unmet demand in the Tallahassee market."It is a really expensive, hard-to-get-to airport. We know there is a lot of demand there, that you have to drive multiple hours to get to a flight that is affordable. And we think we can do a great job at serving the local market there," Johnson said. The airline will launch nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale and Raleigh-Durham, two major travel hubs that could open the door to even more connections for local travelers.Johnson says the new routes are a direct response to that demand.A $10 million incentive program approved by the city helped make the agreement possible, according to airport officials.David Pollard, the Director of Aviation at Tallahassee International Airport, said the support from local leadership was critical."That was instrumental, and we're very pleased with the support of our city leadership and city commission," Pollard said.Pollard says the airport is not stopping at just one new airline. He says they're actively working to attract and retain more carriers."It's about ongoing discussions and developing relationships with key decision makers out in the airline industry," Pollard said. Not everyone is ready to celebrate just yet. Some travelers say they are hopeful but cautious, particularly when it comes to whether the airline will stick around.Kayanna Brow-Hendrickson, a traveler at the airport, said Tallahassee's history with airlines gives her pause."It's known for losing airlines that come in. I hope the prices are inexpensive so people can actually want to fly. I think that's why most airlines leave because they don't get the revenue they thought they were going to get," Brow-Hendrickson, said.Tallahassee travelers can now book flights on Breeze to Fort Lauderdale and Raleigh-Durham nonstop on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays starting at $39 one way. Tickets are available for booking on their website or through the Breeze Airways app. This story was reported on-air by a journalist and has been converted to this platform with the assistance of AI.
