Much of Puerto Vallarta is still shaken after a wave of violence erupted following the killing of a prominent Mexican drug cartel leader, with flights being cancelled and shelter-in-place warning issued for Americans. There’s hope for travelers trying to leave, however. Mexico president Clau dia Sheinbaum said cancelled flights — particularly those in Puerto Vallarta — are expected to be fully restored at by Tuesday. One of the first flights from Puerto Vallarta back to the Bay Area landed Monday night at San Francisco International Airport. As of Tuesday morning in Puerto Vallarta, there are less than a dozen flights cancelled and most are scheduled to depart.
