An 18-year-old Plainfield teen's family found out he had been gunned down after seeing a shooting on the Citizen app located in the last known area of their son. Police were called around 8:25 a.m. Saturday when a witness walking his dog found the teen, Trevon Wright, lying unresponsive on the groun d in a backyard of a home in the 900 block of South Keeler Avenue, Chicago police said. Wright, who suffered gunshot wounds, was declared dead on the scene.Police then found another witness who told them she heard gunfire around 9:30 p.m. Friday but didn't call 911 because she thought the shots were down the block, according to a police report obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times.Around the same time, when Wright didn't return to his Plainfield home after going to a party in Chicago, his family started looking for him, and learned his last known location was in the same area of a shooting they found on the Citizen app, according to the report. The family drove to the West Side and found the crime scene, and his father, who declined to comment when reached by the Sun-Times, later identified his son. Several personal items were found at the scene, including a cellphone shattered by bullet shell casings, earbuds and a vape, the report said.An autopsy determined Wright died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office and police.
