(KRON) -- A man who was kidnapped in Tracy last week was found dead near Lake Berryessa in Napa County days later, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday. The victim, identified as Avtar Singh, was reported missing on the night of Tuesday, February 17, to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded at 8:52 p.m. to the 16000 block of West Grant Line Road in Tracy to take the missing person report. “During the investigation, surveillance footage showed a white SUV and three unidentified individuals dressed in dark clothing with the victim at approximately 2:30 PM,” the sheriff’s office wrote. “The victim appeared to enter the vehicle against his will.” At 3:20 p.m. on Friday, February 20, Singh’s body was located near Lake Berryessa. The Napa County Sheriff’s Office shut down Highway 128 between Monticello Dam and Wragg Canyon for more than 14 hours into Saturday morning amid the investigation. San Joaquin County authorities said Monday that the incident appears to be isolated and there is no known ongoing threat to the community. “Our detectives are working tirelessly to investigate this case and identify those responsible for this terrible act,” the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office wrote.
