BEECH GROVE, Ind. (WISH) — The Beech Grove Police Department has finalized the procession route for the Celebration of Life Ceremony honoring Officer Brian Elliott, said a news release issued Friday afternoon from Indiana State Police. Elliott was fatally shot Monday afternoon while respond ing to a violent domestic call involving Kenneth T. Johnson and his girlfriend, an Indiana State Police trooper’s report to Marion Superior Court 20 revealed Tuesday. Elliott, 33, a member of the Beech Grove Police Department since September 2024, died at Eskenazi Hospital, the department’s chief announced just before 9:30 p.m. Monday. Immediately following the funeral ceremony, the procession is scheduled to depart Beech Grove High School between 12:45 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Monday as it moves toward Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. The finalized route will travel west on Hornet Avenue to Emerson Avenue, then head north to Main Street. The procession will turn west on Main Street to North 17th Avenue and proceed north to the roundabout. From there, it will travel west on Albany Street to Keystone Avenue and south to I-65. The route continues north on I-65 to the 29th Street exit, east to Illinois Street and north to 34th Street before arriving at the cemetery. The funeral arrangements include a two-day series of public services to honor the fallen officer, concluding with a traditional police procession to Crown Hill Cemetery. The Beech Grove Police Department asked people to find safe locations off the road to view the procession. Because a portion of the route includes the interstate, officials specifically requested that viewers do not stop on the side of I-65. A public visitation is scheduled from 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Beech Grove High School, 5330 Hornet Avenue. Members of the community are invited to attend. The Celebration of Life Ceremony will follow on Monday morning beginning at 11 a.m. at the high school. Like the visitation, the memorial ceremony will be open to the public.
