Caught on video: Man saved from burning car after fiery crash at Jersey Shore
Feb 19, 2026
A heroic rescue was caught on camera after a horrific crash at the Jersey Shore.
Police body-worn cameras captured the moments an officer and two witnesses risked their own safety to pull a man from his burning SUV on the night of Feb. 7 along Delilah Road in Pleasantville.
“It wasn’t a
second thought in my head, ‘go help,'” Guy Emerson Jr. said. “I’m not going to sit there and stand and watch somebody, you know, be burnt alive.”
Authorities say Darrick Moore side-swiped a car that he was trying to pass and then he slammed into a pole.
Egg Harbor Township Police K-9 Officer William Burns happened to be driving by when the SUV careened into a marsh and then burst into flames.
“They were very brave,” Pleasantville Police Chief Stacey Schlacter told NBC10.
From his hospital bed, Moore said that he is profoundly grateful as he recovers from multiple injuries.
“Y’all were my guardian angels in that moment,” Moore said. “I’m blessed to still be alive.”
