We’re enjoying near 80-degree weather for the next couple of days, with the weekend chill arriving just about the time the City of Mesquite will do something good for children and adults in Special Olympics. The 2026 Polar Plunge is right around the corner! Each year, in partnership with Spe cial Olympics Texas and Mesquite Parks and Rec, the police department hosts a cold water plunge into a pool to raise funds benefiting Special Olympics and the athletes. The big event this year happens on Saturday, February 21st, outside at the city’s Vanston Pool. Registration is going on now.
