SEPTA ending sales of ‘Key Tix' mobile ticketing platform next month

With the start of next month, SEPTA will be ending the sales of its “Key Tix” service.
On March 2, 2026, SEPTA officials said, the mass transit provide will halt sales of Key Tix — a mobile ticketing platform that allows riders to download a QR code ticket that can be read at fareboxes and
turnstiles for bus and metro services.
The program, SEPTA officials said, launched in 2022 as a way for occasional riders to “enjoy the same benefits as Key cardholders.”
But, with new contactless payment options available, SEPTA said, it has seen a significant decrease in demand for Key Tix.
“While SEPTA is approaching two million contactless trips per month, mobile tickets have dropped to just 10,000,” SEPTA officials said in a statement.
SEPTA riders can now use any credit or debit card or use mobile wallets through Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay to pay instead of having to rely on Key Tix, officials said.
In addition to contactless payments and Key cards, SEPTA also accepts Quick Trip tickets and cash on allmodes of transportation, as well, officials said.
