More heartbreak for Lindsey Vonn. Skier reveals dog died day after Olympic crash

Lindsey Vonn returned home to more heartbreak.
The Olympic skier shared the heartbreaking news that her dog Leo died last week, just one day after her devastating downhill crash in Cortina.
“The day I crashed, so did Leo,” Vonn wrote on Instagram.
“He had been recently diagnosed wi
th lung cancer (he survived lymphoma a year and a half ago) but now his heart was failing him. He was in pain and his body could no longer keep up with his strong mind.”
Vonn said she had to say goodbye to her 13-year-old pup long-distance while stuck in the hospital recovering.
“As I [laid] in my hospital bed the day after my crash, we said goodbye to my big boy,” her heartbreaking note continued.
Leo and Vonn had been through a lot. The Olympian said her dog had comforted her through her second ACL injury and cuddled up on the sofa where she watched the Sochi Olympics.
“I will love you forever my big boy,” she said, ending her caption for a post filled up photos of Leo.
Vonn shared the update from the U.S., which she had just returned to after a week of recovery in Italy. She shared the tragic news of Leo’s death as she prepares for a forth surgery on her leg.
