What to know for women's figure skating final: Standings, date and how to watch
Feb 17, 2026
There’s one figure skating competition left on the Milan Cortina schedule.
Medals will be awarded in the women’s figure skating event Thursday at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The two-skate event wraps up with the free skate.
One member of Team USA’s “Blade Angels” sits in a podium posit
ion following Tuesday’s short program. Alysa Liu is halfway to her first individual Olympic medal after recording the third-best score of 76.59. Liu’s short program included the most difficult combination attempted by any skater in the field — a triple lutz-triple loop.
The California native finished sixth in the competition at the 2022 Beijing Games. She helped Team USA win gold in the team event earlier in these Games, placing second in the women’s short program.
Liu enters the final behind a pair of Japanese skaters in Ami Nakai (78.71 score) and Kaori Sakamoto (77.23). Sakamoto is the reigning bronze medalist.
The first skater currently outside the podium also represents Japan, as Mone Chiba is fourth with 74.00 points.
Japan is looking to become the first country to ever sweep the podium in the event.
Meanwhile, the other two “Blade Angels” have ground to make up. Mistakes by Isabeau Levito and Amber Glenn left them in eighth and 13th, respectively. Levito and Glenn are both making their Olympic debut.
Glenn, like Liu, was part of the Americans’ gold-winning effort in the team event, where she placed third in the women’s free skate.
The top 24 of 29 skaters from the short program advanced to the free skate. Scores from both skates are combined to determine the medal winners.
The short program had a duration of two minutes and 40 seconds per skate (plus or minus 10 seconds), while the free skate will feature a duration of four minutes per skate (plus or minus 10 seconds).
