(KRON) -- A Bay Area man was killed over the weekend in a skiing accident at a Tahoe ski resort. The man, identified as 53-year-old Stuart McLaughlin of Hillsborough, died on Sunday at Northstar Ski Resort. 10 backcountry skiers missing in Castle Peak avalanche According to the Placer County Sheriff 's Office, the coroner unit responded to a fatal skiing accident at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15. A representative from Northstar told KRON4 the incident involved a "serious on mountain collision," involving two guests. Northstar's ski patrol responded to the collision and one of the guests, later identified as McLaughlin, was pronounced deceased by the Northstar Fire Department. The other guest was transported to Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee for treatment. "We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, and the Northstar team extends our deepest condolences to the family, loved ones, and friends of the guests involved," said Northstar General Manager Tara Schoedinger.
