(KRON) — A 59-year-old woman is dead and a 6-year-old boy was seriously injured when they were hit by a car near the intersection of Tennyson Road and Baldwin Street on Saturday, according to the Hayward Police Department. The woman and child were using a crosswalk in the area at about 6:21 p.m. when a 60-year-old man from Hayward allegedly hit them with his car. Driver not wearing seat belt killed in Santa Cruz County crash: CHP “Medical personnel responded and transported both pedestrians to a nearby hospital where the adult female pedestrian later succumbed to her injuries,” Hayward PD said. “The male juvenile sustained facial fractures, is expected to survive, and has since been reunited with family members.” The driver remained at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
