Relive the Winter Olympics G.O.A.T. win nine gold medals
Feb 15, 2026
Norway’s victory in the men’s 4×7.5km cross-country relay secured Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo Klaebo his ninth career gold medal, the most ever by a Winter Olympian.
This win marks Klaebo’s fourth gold medal at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics out of four events. He is set to compe
te two more times at this year’s Games with hopes of continuing to add to his medal count.
The 29-year-old has won gold in every event he has entered at these Games so far. With nine gold medals and 11 Olympic medals overall, Klaebo is now widely regarded as the greatest Winter Olympian in history.
Across both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, Michael Phelps holds the record for the most gold medals with 23. Six athletes — now including Klaebo — share second place with nine gold medals each.
Should Klaebo win another gold medal in Milan, he would stand alone with the second-most Olympic gold medals of all time.
