“It felt like a car hit my house, that’s how loud the bang was,” Kevin Rivera told NBC 7. Rivera said the impact of the crash sent him racing outside to Jamacha Boulevard and San Diego Street to see what happened around 10:30 p.m. Friday night. “It was horrible, it was you come out to three cars turned over, people yelling for help, people scared, you know…it’s just a mess, there’s glass everywhere,” Rivera said. Despite the danger, Rivera said he threw caution to the wind to help one of the drivers trapped inside three car, rollover wreck. “One of the cars, the driver was still kind of awake, so I started breaking the windshield and the officer started pulling back the windshield while I was breaking it so we could get him out,” Rivera said. Rivera says he was unable to rescue another driver from their car. Instead, they had to wait for first responders to arrive. “I woke up this morning, and I think somebody’s loved one was here because they were at the scene and they were crying and somebody was trying to console her,” Denise Arvizu said. “So, it’s just sad.” Denise Arvizu, who also lives in the area, said in the five years she’s lived there she’s known of three fatalities along Jamacha Boulevard. She said drivers travel at very high speeds along the road. Arvizu said she worries not only for the drivers, but for her safety and the safety of everyone who lives there. “Just reduced the speed. Just be cautious…families live here,” Arvizu said. Rivera agrees. He said he would like to see something done to encourage drivers to slow down. California Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation. If you know any details about the crash, contact Crime Stoppers. ...read more read less
