Hitting the halfway mark of the 2026 Winter Olympics, and Team USA is in the thick of the race for most medals. The U.S. added more to their tally Saturday after getting shutout in heartbreaking fashion Friday. Americans took home a gold, a silver and a bronze in Saturday’s action, bringing the ir total to 17. See where the medal count stands after Day 8 of competition of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics (last updated 2/14 at 6 p.m. EST): Two of the medals won Saturday came from the women’s dual moguls event in freestyle skiing. For the second time in Milan Cortina, Elizabeth Lemley found her way to the podium, this time earning bronze. Fellow member of Team USA Jaelin Kauf finished second for her first medal of the Games. Once again, Jordan Stolz brought home gold for the U.S. After dominating the men’s 1000-meter race Wednesday, Stolz followed it up with another record-setting performance in the 500-meter race. He edged out the Netherlands’ Jenning de Boo by just over a tenth of a second. Stolz is trying to join Eric Heiden as the only Americans to win three golds at a single Winter Games. He has two so far, and gets a few days to rest before his next race: the 1500m, on Thursday. What country has won the most medals so far? Norway and Italy have gone back and forth for the lead in overall medals for much of the first week of the Games, and after Day 8, Norway had once again retaken a small advantage. Norway had 20 medals overall, more than the host nation’s 18. Norway also has the lead in gold medals with 10. Italy once again was second, with six. Team USA was right on the Italians’ heels, however, after Saturday’s medals. The U.S. had 17 going into Sunday, with five golds. Rounding out the top five were Japan with 14 (three golds), France with 12 (four golds) and Austria with 12 (three golds). Who has won medals for Team USA? The U.S. won their first two medals of the Winter Olympics on Sunday, both of which were golds: In the women’s downhill for alpine skiing, and in the team event for figure skating. Feb. 10 and 11 have proven to be the best for Team USA so far, earning five medals both of those days. Three more were added Thursday (gold from Jordan Stolz, silver from Jaelin Kauf, bronze from Elizabeth Lemley), giving them 17 overall.
