(KRON) -- A 19-year-old Fresno woman was in San Mateo County court on Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping a 14-year-old girl from Daly City and bringing her to Oakland to engage in prostitution, according to the district attorney’s office. Janyla Amazing Haqq was charged with human trafficking of a minor for a sex act, pandering by encouraging a minor under the age of 16, and kidnapping. According to prosecutors, the victim and her friend, a boy, were walking to a Daly City mall on Dec. 26, 2025, when Haqq and two others started talking with them. The 14-year-old girl was driven to International Boulevard in Oakland against her will, according to prosecutors, where the group attempted to have her engage in sex with customers. The boy who had previously been dropped off told the girl’s mother about what had occurred and the Daly City Police Department was notified. Detectives found the girl in Oakland on the same day and returned her to her family. An arrest warrant for Haqq was ordered on Feb. 4 and she was taken into custody in Fresno. At court on Wednesday, a public defender attorney was appointed to the case and arraignment on the charges was continued to Feb. 18. Bail was set at $350,000. As of Thursday morning, Haqq remains in custody, jail records show. ...read more read less
