(KRON) -- A Santa Rosa construction supply company has been fined $1.28 million for air quality violations. The Bay Area Air District (BAAD) announced on Tuesday that the fines had been levied against BoDean Company for nine air quality violations at its Santa Rosa and Windsor facilities. The viola tions, according to the air district, occurred between 2021 and 2025 and included "significant unauthorized operations of rubberized asphalt equipment." The violations generated "prolonged, intense odors" that the air district said impacted surrounding communities for weeks. "Air quality rules exist to prevent harm to the public, and they apply to everyone," said Philip Fine, executive director of the air district. "This penalty makes clear that violations have consequences and that facilities are expected to always comply with air quality requirements." The air district said the penalty resolves all nine violations and that BoDean has brought its facilities into compliance. The BAAD said funds collected in the enforcement will be deployed in support of local and regional projects to improve air quality and public health. ...read more read less
