Clayton Kershaw is going to have an active retirement. The future Hall of Famer announced the end of his playing career following the 2025 season last fall but will return to competition this spring as a member of Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. Following that, the former Dodgers pitcher wil l begin a new career in television. NBC Sports announced that it had hired Kershaw and fellow former major-leaguers Anthony Rizzo and Joey Votto to be part of the broadcast crew as NBC returns to baseball’s television package. NBC and Peacock will take over “Sunday Night Baseball” from ESPN and also broadcast wild card games during the postseason. Kershaw, Votto and Rizzo will be pregame analysts for selected games along with hosts Bob Costas and Ahmed Fareed. As part of a three-year agreement with MLB, NBC, NBCSN and Peacock will start televising baseball with an Opening Day doubleheader on March 26 featuring the Pittsburgh Pirates against the New York Mets and the two-time defending World Series champion Dodgers hosting the Arizona Diamondbacks. The first “Sunday Night Baseball” broadcast will be on March 29 and feature the Seattle Mariners against the Cleveland Guardians.
