(WRIC) -- Virginia State Police (VSP) are searching for a Town of Kenbridge Police officer who was involved in a shooting on Sunday afternoon. On Sunday, Feb. 8, at around 2:43 p.m., the Lunenburg County She riff’s Office, Kenbridge Police Department, and VSP responded to Kenbridge Station 7 for a report of a woman who arrived at the station with a gunshot wound. The investigation has stated that the woman was shot inside her vehicle and then drove to the station. Once there, she received medical assistance and was taken to a hospital by a MedFlight for more treatment. The suspect in the incident has been identified as Charles Aaron Stokes, a member of the Town of Kenbridge Police Department, who fired multiple times during a domestic incident before driving away from the scene. VSP reported that the car Stokes was driving was recovered later in Henderson, N.C. A second vehicle was reported stolen from the scene, a 2007 Honda Civic with Virginia plates TGL-9143. He is believed to be now driving the Honda Civic. Stokes has been described as white, 6 feet 3 inches, and weighing 230 pounds with green eyes and brown hair. He is considered armed and dangerous, but was off duty when the incident occurred.
