Two people were hurt and three homes were destroyed in an early Sunday morning fire in the Town of Fox Lake. The Fox Lake Fire Department said crews were called to a home on Howard Drive just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday.As firefighte rs headed to the scene, they said they could already see flames and upgraded the response.By the time they arrived, one home was fully involved, and fire was spreading to the houses on either side, the department said. It was surprising I didnt know what was going on, said John Wisniewski, who lives nearby.The call quickly escalated to a second alarm, bringing in help from fire departments across Dodge County.Firefighters spent nearly 10 hours battling the fire and working to keep it from spreading further.Three homes were destroyed, fire officials said. One firefighter and one resident were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries and later released.Wisniewski said the normally quiet street was filled with fire engines and utility crews as the response grew."They did a great job. Got here fast and controlled everything so there wasn't more damage," Wisniewski said.He said neighbors later learned the fire started in a home that was for sale and spread to homes on either side. Three houses are a lot, Wisniewski said.But it couldve spread to other ones.
