Six people were rescued in Santa Cruz after a boat capsized Saturday morning, the fire department said. The fire department said they received reports of a “confirmed water rescue” at 701 W. Cliff Dr. at around 11:45 a.m. A boat had capsized in the heavy surf, leaving up to six victims in the water, according to authorities. Officials said all six victims were rescued and rushed to the Santa Cruz Harbor where awaiting Central Fire crews and AMR units tended to them and took them to the hospital. The fire department added crews were looking for a possible seventh victim, but they eventually learned there was no seventh victim. The fire department said the victims were rescued thanks to the efforts of Santa Cruz Fire Marine Rescue Swimmers, City Lifeguards, State Parks and several Good Samaritan citizens on surfboards. ...read more read less
