(KRON) -- The San Bruno Police Department said a homicide investigation is underway after reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Keefe Court on Friday afternoon subsequently led to a fire at the location. On Saturday afternoon, SBPD confirmed that a further search of the residence led investiga tors to find human remains. San Bruno police said officers and fire crews responded to the scene at 3 p.m. Friday. "During the investigation, the victim was transported to an area hospital and succumbed to their injuries," said police. Please stay out of the area," said San Bruno police in a previous social media post just after 5:15 p.m. San Bruno police said their Investigation Services department is working with the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office in handling the homicide investigation. Police added that no further details on the case are available at this time. The San Bruno Fire Department provided an update to KRON4 on Saturday afternoon. SBFD confirmed that fire crews and police officers stayed at the scene late through the night to put out the fire. The two agencies also worked together to identify if there were still suspects in the area. Crews will remain at the scene through Saturday to complete the fire investigation, added SBFD. San Bruno police provided an update just after 3:51 p.m. with more details on the investigation. "During a subsequent search of the residence, investigators located human remains inside the home," said police. "The San Bruno Police Department’s Investigative Services Section is leading the criminal investigation. The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office will be responsible for determining the identity and cause of death of the human remains located within the residence.
